LINK Network Meeting Dublin March 09
April 14, 2009
I joined the Dublin City Enterprise Board LINK Network and went along to my fisrt meeting in March.
Now I don’t know about you but this is one area that I really don’t like very much – walking into a room of 50 or 80 people and introducing myself to strangers and starting to chat about business or whatever. (Dublin Chambers has figured this one out and run a course for people like me who hate networking)
I know I spend too much time alone, sitting here typing on the computer, working on SEO and having very few conversations with others during the day – and it kind of suits me.
It was fine, as to be expected. I got chatting before I had even poured myself a coffee to Sharon a designer based in Dublin.
The room is laid out in circular tables with a facilitator at each table. I wandered around the room to see who each facilitator was and I chose to sit at the table where Tony O’Reilly a Business Development Strategist was the facilitator.
The evening starts with a one minute elevator pitch from everyone at the table – good practice in scripting a short sharp interesting pitch for business.
The others at the table were Robert King a Chartered Accountant, Michael Harte from Mail Boxes Etc, David McAuley a photographer specialising in 360 degree virtual tours, Michael Sprat of Rapid Business Growth, Sarah Cremin of Cast Architecture – with the coolest flash website I have seen in a while.
The speaker was Krishna De, entertaining and informative – her web site describes what she does much better than I could – she writes a great blog with loads of business advice.
Krishna De is an award winning digital marketing and brand engagement mentor, professional speaker and the author of the forthcoming books ‘42 Rules Of Marketing In A Recession‘ and ‘Managing Your Personal Brand Online, How to Master the 7 Keys of Professional Success in a Digital Age‘.
If you are running a SME why not check out LINK, it has to be worth the money even just to hear the speakers they have along.
