As usual I enjoyed the DCEB LINK meeting on Tuesday evening. I was fortunate to give a short talk on using SEO to gain more business from the internet.
One of the main issues that I wanted to address during this presentation was the matter of members linking to each other in blog post or using a page on their web site, often known as a links page.
Normally after each meeting of the link network I write a post about the meeting and what was covered, within this post I add links to other members who are sat at the same table.
This month, due to the high numbers, we did not have tables so the only links will be to some of the people I spoke to.
Niall from Beyond the Boardroom, who specialises in sales training, was the main presenter talking about blogging for businesses. It was great to hear of the success Niall has had in sticking with blogging over the longer term. He stressed that blogging is not a quick fix and companies should be expecting a return after a minimum of six months.
Keeping at it with blogging is important, something that was stressed throughout. Therefore setting targets for how often you blog needs to be realistic – once a week is enough, twice if you believe you can give it that energy.
Others that I spoke to on the evening were Facundo from Channelship a web design and social media training companies – a big thanks is due to Facundo for taking the photos.
Nick, the big boss, from SligoTV had a great idea with his web site and I wish him all the best.
Greg, a careers coach, and Anthea from Awaken Coaching were two that I had insightful conversations with afterwards in the bar. Sorry to anyone I have missed.
As usual a big thanks to Miriam for her work in organising the event.
Thanks for the mention and pingback Leslie. Either my pics where not that good (probably) or you are a bit shy to share them! I took like 100!
Best,
The pics where great, but I think two is enough for here, I sent quite a few to Miriam to use – so we might see them elsewhere.
Cool! Was joking anyways.
Have a good one

Thanks for that useful summary Leslie.
I note that when you click on the links a new window opens up, where as sometimes clicking on a link dosen’t open a new browser window. Are there any negative implications of opening new windows (W3C standards etc).
Daniel
Hi Daniel,
I don’t know about w3c standards – but I use Firefox, when I click with firefox I get a new tab, but in IE it opens a new window – I would rather be a new tab…
Thanks for mentioning me in your post. It was a great evening and I hope to meet you again at the next events. Happy SEO-ing.
Hi Leslie,
Thx for the mention here and about Bloggertone in the proceeding post about blog networks. Looking forward to reading more from you on Bloggertone.
